About Michael

I first became interested in the healing power of breath in college at NYU as a philosophy major studying Taoism. After college, I became a gunsmith and began building custom rifles. Gunsmithing gave me an opportunity to follow my breathing and turn my craft into a meditation. After nearly a decade of working on rifles and their complex parts, I became fascinated with the most complex mechanism in the known universe, the human body.
I first began studying and practicing the Buteyko method in 2018, when I discovered the method as part of my practice of Taoism. I noticed that the Buteyko method was a modern scientific approach to the ancient healing art of reduced breathing. I later became certified as an Oxygen Advantage Functional Breathing Coach, through the Patrick Mckeown coaching program in 2022. I enjoy teaching clients about the science and spirit of breath to this day.
I also created a Substack called The Stronghold, where I teach and write about mental systems based on ancient wisdom. I am also currently working on publishing my first book. I live in Cary, NC with my wife and son.
